Step 1: Decide what Maine Coon is right for you.
Welcoming a Maine Coon into your family is an exciting and rewarding experience, but it’s also a meaningful commitment. Take time to evaluate your readiness and preferences. Are you looking for a kitten or a retired Maine Coon? Do you have a preference for a male or female companion? Would you like a more outgoing personality or a more independent one? Consider the ideal timeline for bringing your new family member home. Visit our “Available Kittens” page to explore our available cats, discover their unique personalities, or learn how to join our waitlist for future litters.
Step 2: Complete an application.
Once you’ve decided on a kitten or wish to reserve a spot on our waitlist, please complete our application form. This not only helps us ensure that each kitten is placed in a responsible and loving home that aligns with their needs but also provides us with the opportunity to get to know you better. It’s important for us to connect with prospective families and ensure that our kittens will thrive in their new environments.
After reviewing your application, we will arrange a phone or video call to discuss your submission in more detail. This call gives us the chance to address any specific questions or concerns you may have, clarify any requirements, and offer more insight into the adoption process. It's also a wonderful opportunity for us to e-meet the kitten and introduce you to your future furry companion, helping to establish a strong bond even before they come home.
Trust is mutual, and this step is just as important for us as it is for you. We want to ensure that you feel confident and comfortable throughout the adoption process, knowing that you’re making the best choice for both you and the kitten. Likewise, this gives us the assurance that you are the right fit for our kittens and that they will be welcomed into a loving and nurturing environment. If your application is approved, we will move forward with the next steps, working together to bring your new family member home.
Step 3: Reserve your kitten or join the waitlist.
After our phone or video call, we hope you feel more informed about the adoption process and excited about welcoming a furry companion into your home. Our goal is to ensure that you feel confident in choosing Maccoonie Cattery, and we are dedicated to making this experience as smooth and transparent as possible.
To secure the kitten or retired cat you’ve selected, you will need to sign a purchase contract and submit a non-refundable 30% deposit, which will be applied toward the total purchase price. This confirms your commitment and ensures that the kitten or retired cat is reserved exclusively for you. If you choose to join our waitlist for future litters, a non-refundable $500 deposit is required to hold your spot, and we will notify you of your position on the waitlist.
Please note that we only accept payments via Zelle or bank transfer. This method ensures the security and efficiency of the transaction. We understand that adopting a new pet is a significant decision, and we are here to ensure that both you and our kittens are set up for success from the very beginning.
Step 4: Stay connected during the waiting period.
As you eagerly await the arrival of your new furry family member, we will keep you closely connected with regular photos and videos. These updates will give you the opportunity to watch your kitten grow, see their unique personality unfold, and build a bond long before they step into their new home. We believe this is a special time for you and your family, allowing you to experience the joy of watching your future companion thrive and develop. These updates not only keep you excited but also give you the chance to prepare for their arrival, ensuring that your home is ready to welcome your new kitten with love and care.
Step 5: Finalize your adoption.
When your kitten reaches the age of 14-16 weeks and is ready to join their forever home, we will coordinate the final steps to ensure a smooth transition. At this stage, the remaining balance for the kitten will be due, and we will have you sign any final agreements necessary to complete the process. You can choose to pay the balance in cash if you’re picking up your kitten in person, or via bank transfer if you prefer to have the kitten delivered.
For those unable to visit our cattery personally, we offer safe, reliable, and convenient delivery services to ensure your kitten arrives at their new home in perfect health and comfort. We strive to make the entire process seamless, ensuring that the arrival of your new family member is as smooth and stress-free as possible, whether you're picking them up or having them delivered to you.
Step 6: Welcome your new family member.
The big day has finally arrived! Whether you’re picking up your kitten in person at our cattery or welcoming them through our reliable delivery service, we’ll ensure you have all the essential documentation, care instructions, and support you need for a smooth transition. Our commitment to your kitten doesn’t end once they leave our care; we consider it just the beginning of our ongoing relationship with both you and your new furry family member.
We provide you with helpful resources to ensure your Maine Coon settles in comfortably and thrives in their new home. From feeding and grooming tips to advice on socialization and health, we’re always here to offer guidance and answer any questions that may arise. As your kitten grows into an adult, we’ll continue to support you, ensuring that they lead a happy, healthy life by your side.
